Notes

It is a small, open, shrub-like tree with stout dark green needles 2-4 cm long, usually in bundles of 1-3. The cones are small with few scales and large edible seeds. Some classifications have included this species with the closely related P. monophylla within P. cembroides.

Natural Distribution

SW U.S.A., north to southern Wyoming and E to NW Texas.
