Notes
Not a commercially valuable pine with medium wood qualities, coarse grain and high resin content. A so-called northern 'blue' form has shown some promise as a potential timber tree in Britain and New Zealand, with growth rates of up to 2m/year when young even on very poor sandy soils. P. muricata is popular in horticulture and amenity plantings.
